Teen Midnight Basketball
Co-ed basketball for middle and high school-aged youth
The Teen Midnight Basketball 3-on-3 program offers monthly athletic opportunities for youth during late night, weekend hours when they might otherwise be involved in unsupervised activities. This program is held monthly on the first Friday night from April to August, rotating between the Martin Luther King Jr. Multipurpose Center and the North Central Florida YMCA. In addition to basketball, there will be other fun athletic and enrichment opportunities from leaders across the Gainesville community who will inspire the future success of teens across the Gainesville community.
Who?: Kids age 11-18
When?: First Friday from 8 p.m.-12 a.m. (April-August)
Where?: Rotates between the MLK Center and the YMCA
Kids interested in participating should bring a signed registration form (if under 18) with them, and be ready to play ball! Forms are also available the night of the game.

The courts are calling for a summer of fun and competition! Come join our coed basketball program! Build character and leadership by “Pursuing Victory with Honor” for life skills to use on and off the court. Heatwave is about fairness and respect for all players, regardless of skill.
Dates: June 6 – July 27
Official start of play: Monday, June 6
Locations: Due to program growth, games will be held at the Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Multipurpose Center, Eastside High School and Lincoln Middle School.
Ages & Game Times:
9–10, 11–13: Games are Fridays evenings after 5 p.m.
14–15: Games are Monday–Thursday after 5 p.m.
16–18: Games are Monday–Thursday after 5 p.m.
Games: Each team will be able to play 1–2 games per week. No games on Friday, July 1 and Monday, July 4.
Basketball play-offs will occur the last week of Heatwave.
All youth must provide proof of age to participate. Please see registration form for accepted proof of age documents.
Team Registration: In order to register as a team, each team must have a coach who meets City of Gainesville volunteer guidelines. If needed, city staff will help a team find a qualified coach. Does not apply to those registering as an individual player.
Life Skill Classes
Classes are conducted by coaches 20 minutes prior to the start of every game. All athletes participating in Heatwave must attend.
Want to cool off and avoid the summer heat? Come to one of our pool parties! Enjoy free swimming, dancing, music and food hot off the grill courtesy of our Gainesville Police Department!
