Give Your Feedback on Conceptual Designs for the Northside Park Master Plan

The City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department (PRCA) invites residents to give their feedback on conceptual designs for Northside Park (5701 NW 34th Blvd.) at an upcoming open house.

The open house is scheduled at two times in order to provide attendees a variety of times to give their feedback. Both open houses are Wednesday, June 28 at the Gainesville/Alachua County Senior Recreation Center, which is located at 5701 NW 34th Blvd.; they are from 2:30-4:30 p.m. or 5-7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Last month, PRCA asked citizens to complete a survey providing input on possible park improvements. The survey was compiled after meeting with stakeholders of the park and special focus groups, as well as neighbors of the park. More than 300 citizens completed surveys.

The open house is the next step in the conceptual planning and design process to create a master plan for Northside Park. Three conceptual plans will be presented at various stations, as well an overview of the process and a summary of findings. Lastly, participants will have the opportunity to prioritize funding for the park features that are most important to them.

Director Steve Phillips explains, “Several of our older parks were developed without a master plan. As an agency accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA), we adopt best practice standards, such as master plans for every park, which allow us to achieve the goals reflected by the community. Our community outreach efforts mirror our city’s efforts to be the most citizen-centered city in the country. I hope you’ll attend and give us your ideas.”
