The City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs Department and the Wild Spaces & Public Places program are pleased to announce that work is about to begin to rebuild the tennis courts at T.B. McPherson Park, located at 1717 SE 15th St. This is the most recent effort toward fulfilling the City Commission’s stated goal of having a world-class park system in Gainesville.

Reserve Park opens next month at the former site of the C.R. Layton Army Reserve Center, located at 1125 NE Eighth Ave. The Army occupied the center from 1953 until 2009.

The City of Gainesville Wild Spaces & Public Places program, in conjunction with the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department and the Rotary Clubs of Gainesville Foundation, is pleased to announce that work has begun at Northside Park, located at 5701 NW 34th Blvd.

The City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department and the Wild Spaces & Public Places program invite you to participate in a community meeting Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 6-7:30 p.m. to discuss the proposed design for the Clarence R. Kelly Community Center, located at 1701 NE Eighth Ave.

The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department and the Wild Spaces & Public Places program are pleased to announce the installation of new shade structures over the Fred Cone Park bleachers. The canopy offers shaded seating for sports spectators and spans the full length of the bleachers, which will soon accommodate up to 360 people. Measuring 125 feet long, 16 feet high and 21 feet wide, the cost of the project was $75,275.00 and was funded by the Wild Spaces & Public Places half-cent sales tax.
