Policies And Procedures For City Facilities

AGE   Participants must be 18 years of age or older to become a member of the Wellness Center. Minor youth (14 - 17) must have parental written approval on file and parent/guardian supervision for use.
FOOD & DRINKS Drinks (other than water in a spill proof sports water bottle), food of any kind, chewing tobacco or gum are not permitted in the Center.
CLOTHING Shirts (i.e. T-shirts, tank tops) and athletic shoes (no open toe shoes of any kind and NO dress shoes) shall be worn at all times while inside the Center. No belts with buckles shall be worn while using equipment, with the exception of weight belts.
EQUIPMENT CLEANING All participants shall clean each piece of equipment and upholstered surfaces after use.
TOWELS Members must have their own towel at all times. NO TOWELS, NO ENTRY!
LOCKERS Lockers are provided, but participants must provide their own locks. The MLK, Jr. Multi-Purpose Center is NOT responsible for lost or stolen items in locker room or in the wellness center. Lockers are to be used during each visit only and not for overnight storage. Locks on lockers at the close of the workday will be removed; any items left in the lockers will be put in the lost and found box.
PERSONAL BELONGINGS The City of Gainesville Recreation & Parks Department (GRPD) WILL NOT be responsible for the loss of personal belongings. No personal belongings shall be left inside the Center.
EMPLOYEES' USE
The Center is available to City of Gainesville employees at NO COST. No non-city personnel family member etc will be permitted entry without paying the appropriate fees.
PHYSICIAN'S CARE Participants who are under the care of a physician or have a physical limitation shall consult their physician and have written permission prior to participating in any programs at the center. The center is not responsible for any injury sustained from improper uses of equipment or use of equipment that a physician has told them not to use.
EQUIPMENT USE Users should be trained by appropriate City staff on each machine before they use it. Time is limited to 30 minutes on all cardiovascular equipment when someone is waiting. If you have any questions about the proper use of a machine, you should ask the supervisor on duty. Participants must complete and have on file a Consent Form prior to using the Wellness Center. Participants shall not utilize the Center until they have completed a physical assessment and documentation has been put on file. Wellness Center hours of operation will be determined by the City of Gainesville Recreation and Parks Department.
CONDUCT Users of the Center are expected to be responsible, courteous, and safety conscious at all times. Disorderly conduct, abuse or misuse of the facility or its equipment, or disregard for the policies will not be tolerated and suspension can be indefinite. Violators will be required to leave the Center and may also be suspended from using the Center as determined by the City of Gainesville Recreation & Parks Department (GRPD). Fee-paying members who are suspended will not have any portion of their fees refunded.
