Recreation Centers

The City of Gainesville owns and maintains a variety of facilities that serve to enhance the quality of life in the Gainesville community. Many of the facilities are utilized for neighorhood meetings, recreational opportunities, nature conservation, and other positive activities.  Select a facility from the list below for additional information.

Center Rental Hours

Center Rental Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  If you are interested in renting one of our centers, you may visit the Thelma Boltin Center, at 516 NE 2nd Avenue, to fill out a rental application, during these hours. For more information on rentals please call 334-2189.

For pool reservations please call 393-8732.

  • Wellness Center Memberships:
    • Annual Memberships: 18 years and over - $66.00, Senior Citizens (50+) - $34.00
    • Six-Month Memberships: 18 years and over - $39.00, Senior Citizens (50+) - $16.75
    • City of Gainesville employees and their spouses are welcome to use the Wellness facilities at NO CHARGE. City Employees must present their City ID badge to enter the facility. A screening process is required for employee spouses, which must be conducted through Risk Management. Please call (352) 334-5045 for more information.
    • Children ages 14 - 17 will be allowed to workout at NO CHARGE providing they come in with their parents or guardians who have memberships.
    • The Dwight H. Hunter Pool (Northeast Pool) is located in the same complex as the MLK Center, for more information on this pool please see our Aquatics Section of the web page
