Aquatics

The Aquatics division encourages participation through our swimming programs, special events and activities. We will provide participants with the opportunity to enjoy water-related activities that promote safe swimming, water safety, healthy competition, sportsmanship and fun at our public swimming pools and facilities. Our highly trained staff is committed to conducting safe, fun and quality activities. Participants and patrons will be guided through wholesome experiences at our well-maintained swimming pools and facilities. Dwight Hunter (NE) Municipal Pool is scheduled to open in May 2008. H. Spurgeon Cherry (Westside) Municipal Pool is scheduled to open on Sunday, April 27, 2008. Andrew Mickle Municipal Pool is scheduled to open on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2008 For pool reservations or additional information please call our Administrative Office at (352)334-5067.

Interested in signing up your children for swim lessons but you are unsure as to what level they are? We've provided the guidelines for Aqua Babies through Level 4 for you to review. 2008 Biathlon Series

The City of Gainesville will be hosting the 2008 Biathlon Series at Westside and Northeast Pools. There will be a total of 6 races, three at each pool site. The Biathlon consists of a 5k run through the community followed by an 800m swim at the pool. Points will be awarded to men and women of each age group. Trophies will be awarded at the conclusion of the Series to the top three men and top three women in each age group. You must participate in at least three biathlons to be eligible for an award. Dog Days of Summer

Dive In Movies

Come out and watch your favorite movies on our big screen while you float around and relax in the pool. Come out for monthly movies, grab some popcorn, and dive in to the fun! Selected movies will be played on the following dates at the pools listed below. Doors open at 8:00pm for each movie night. June 13th will feature the movie “Surf’s Up” at Northeast Pool; July 11th will feature the movie “The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep” at Westside Pool; and August 15th will feature the movie “Happy Feet” at Mickle Pool.
