Urban Forest

Urban Forest Management oversees the team that plants, prunes, and maintains trees along Gainesville's streets, in parks, municipal buildings, and City-maintained retention ponds. In addition, the team participates in site plan review to support preservation of Heritage trees and replanting on development sites, as well as enforcing ordinances passed by the City Commission to protect and enhance the urban forest. Proper pruning, right-tree right-place planting, and removal of hazardous trees will lead to a safe and sustainable tree canopy for our community.
