Foundations After-School Academy

Dates: Monday, August 20, 2018 – Friday, May 31, 2019
Fun-filled, educational program for children, who are in 1st–8th grade.

Foundations Academy for 1st–8th Grade will be offered at the following locations:

Thank you for choosing Foundations Academy for your child's after-school enrichment program. A foundation is an underlying basis, principle or groundwork for something. At Foundations Academy, our staff strives to lay the groundwork for success by creating an atmosphere where students, parents, staff and community members work together to create and inspirational and safe place for students to learn and grow.

Transportation is not provided for this program. 

Program Hours: Monday through Friday, 2:00–6:00 pm.

Current Weekly Fees: City Residents*: $18.50: Non-City Residents: $27.50. *Proof of residency (GRU Bill or Voter ID card) is required at the time of registration. Prices as of October 1, 2017.

Please note: there is no after-school program on city-recognized holidays.

Scholarship Information:
Full scholarships are available for families that qualify through the School Board of Alachua County (SBAC) for free or reduced lunch. Families can also qualify through the City of Gainesville Family Application for Reduced Fees. Here are the links for the Application and the Florida Income Eligibility Guidelines. You can request proof of free or reduced lunch through your child’s school by calling the SBAC’s Food Service Office at (352) 955-7539.

Foundations Academy will not provide programming the following City Holidays. You will need to make alternate arrangements for childcare:

  • Maintenance: Monday, August 13–Friday, August 17
  • Labor Day: Monday, September 3
  • Veterans Day: Monday, November 12
  • Thanksgiving Holiday: November 22–23
  • Christmas Holiday: December 24–25
  • New Year’s Eve & Day: December 31–January 1
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Monday, January 21
  • Memorial Day: Monday, May 27


Foundations Academy will not provide regular programming the following dates but select one of the following options:

OUT OF SCHOOL DAYS: The Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department offers all day activities for days the schools are closed.

  • Friday, October 19, 2018: Pupil Holiday/ Teacher Workday
  • Friday, November 2, 2018: UF Homecoming
  • Monday, November 19– Wednesday, November 21, 2018: Pupil Teacher/Holidays
  • Tuesday, February 18, 2019: President’s Day

Fees per day: $6.00* for Residents, $9.25 for Non-City Residents. Prices as of October 1, 2017.

*Proof of residency required (GRU bill or voter registration).

The Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department offers themed camps based on school breaks throughout the year. Winter Break and Spring Break Camp prices are $52.50* Residents, $78.50 Non-City Residents. Proof of residency required. 
  • Winter Break: December 26–28 and January 2–4
  • Spring Break: April 1–5, 2019
You must register for Out of School Days and Camps as separate program as they differ from the Foundations Academy after-school program, occur at limited locations and accommodate a different capacity of children. Fees apply.
