Please note that there has been a change in the start date for this program.  The Flag Football program will begin the week of March 4 (not Feb. 25 as originally posted).  The mandatory parent meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 5, at 7 p.m. at the MLK Center.  If you have any questions, call 352-393-5067 for more information.

2019 Spring Session

7U- for boys and girls ages 5-7

12U- for boys and girls ages 10-12

Please note:  The 10U league has been cancelled due to lack of participation, but the 6U and 12U are still open for enrollment.

Registration opens Tuesday, January 8, 2019.  

A fun flag football league for all skill levels is designed to educate participants about football while emphasizing participation and sportsmanship. No Tryouts, Practices and Games during the week between 5:30-8:30 pm at Fred Cone Park, 2801 E. University Ave.

Registration is limited so make sure to register early, registration deadline is March 1. Practices begin the week of March 4. The parent meeting will be held at the MLK center on March 5 at 7 p.m . Fees are $95 for city residents and $142.50 for non-city residents. You may register in person at the Thomas Center, 3rd floor, 306 NE 6th Avenue, Mon.-Fri., 8 a.m.–5 p.m.

Items to Bring to Registration (your child will not be registered without a birth certificate and PAYS certificate)

  • Birth Certificate 
  • Proof of Residency*
  • Free/Reduced Lunch Form**
  • PAYS certificate**

*Proof of residency (GRU bill or Voter ID Card) is required for city residents. Prices effective October 1, 2017.   

 **Scholarships are available for $15 off the stated fees for families that are directly certified through the School Board    of Alachua County (SBAC) for free or reduced lunch. You can request proof of free or reduced lunch through your child’s school or by calling the SBAC’s Food Service Office at (352) 955-7539 x1569.

Complete the registration and select "yes" when asked if you are signing up under a league/agency.  Be sure to select "Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs" from the drop down box so that the cost is covered for you. You will then be directed to a training course consisting of eight video sections (about 40 minutes).  Once complete, your certificate of completion will be issued and available for printing.
If renewing:  You will not be required to watch the video; just sign in and your certificate will update.

National Flag Football – Possum Creek Park

For ages: Coed, 5–12 years-old

Launched in 2006, National Flag Football, is the largest NFL Flag Football provider in the country with programs located in over 100 different communities and servicing over 35,000 players annually. The program is designed to educate young people about football while emphasizing participation and sportsmanship. Participants learn skills and lessons that help them succeed both on and off the field.
