The City of Gainesville Public Works Department will begin sediment removal from Sweetwater Wetlands Park’s sediment basin on Monday, Oct. 1. This annual maintenance project is expected to be complete in about a month.

The Galleries at the Historic Thomas Center are pleased to announce the new RockPaperScissors - Playing with Material Change exhibition, which will run Friday, Sept. 28, 2018 – Friday, Jan. 4, 2019. An opening reception will take place Friday, Sept. 28 from 7–9 p.m. during Artwalk Gainesville. The event includes a musical performance by blues and soul band The Ramblin’ Mutts.

Take advantage of a wide offering of native north Florida plants during the 2018 Fall Native Plant Sale. Native plants are adapted to drought and the heat, which helps reduce water consumption from irrigation, require less upkeep and help save money. The Fall Native Plant Sale is at Morningside Nature Center Saturday, Sept. 29 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., and is open to the public.
