The Possum Creek Skate Jam is a family-friendly skateboard competition that recognizes and engages Gainesville’s vibrant skateboard community. This event is free and open to all ages. The event features a, skateboard competition, best trick contest prizes, giveaways, music with a DJ, urban art, sculpture garden, food trucks and a vendor village.

The Teen Midnight Basketball 3-on-3 program offers monthly athletic opportunities for youth during late night, weekend hours when they might otherwise be involved in unsupervised activities. This program is held monthly on the first Friday night from April to August, rotating between the Martin Luther King Jr. Multipurpose Center and the North Central Florida YMCA. In addition to basketball, there will be other fun athletic and enrichment opportunities from leaders across the Gainesville community who will inspire the future success of teens across the Gainesville community.

As part of the City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department Nature Operation Division’s routine land management practices, a prescribed burn is scheduled for today 3/14/22, weather and site conditions permitting, at Boulware Springs Nature Park, 3400 SE 15th St, beginning at 10 a.m. and ending before 5 p.m. This is an ecological fuel reduction burn, which will be conducted with support from the Florida Forest Service. The burn will be conducted in the restoration area of the property, and all public access to the northern portion of the park will be prohibited.
