Thomas Center Galleries Announce the BEAUTY & THE BEASTS Exhibition

The Thomas Center Galleries announce the opening of the BEAUTY & THE BEASTS, an expansive art exhibition to be presented in the Historic Thomas Center’s Main and Mezzanine galleries from Friday, June 26 to Saturday, Sept. 19. The opening reception for the exhibition is Friday, June 26 from 7-10 p.m. in conjunction with Gainesville’s downtown ArtWalk, and is free and open to the public.

BEAUTY & THE BEASTS invites the viewer to explore a menagerie of images inspired by the artist’s curiosity and connection to the birds and animals of land, sea and air. From beastly creatures to man’s best friend, the images of more than 30 artists who find their muse in the animal kingdom are showcased. The exhibition of drawings, paintings and sculptures by both emerging and established artists is curated by Anne E. Gilroy.

The Thomas Center Galleries are proud to exhibit the work of contemporary artists, as well as rarely seen work on loan from private collections.

The opening reception of BEAUTY & THE BEASTS will feature the exciting sounds of Gainesville’s hip-hop performance ensemble, MSNRA. MSNRA’s sound is steeped in the vibrant hip-hop tradition, with elements of electronic, indie and world music. Influenced greatly by the experimental nature of the north Florida music community, MSNRA is wholly original and uniquely Floridian.
