Loblolly Woods Nature Park Closure - 4/6/18
Loblolly Woods Nature Park will be closed immediately due to a sewer line leak affecting the park’s wetland system. The closure affects the entire park property, including the boardwalk and trails, from the N.W. 5th Ave. entrance to N.W. 16th Ave., as well as the Mason Manor section located on the eastern side of the property. Gainesville Regional Utilities is working to repair the leak. We ask that park patrons please avoid the area, especially the creeks, until conditions have improved.
Please note, that even after repairs have been completed, the City of Gainesville does not promote the use of Hogtown Creek and other urban creeks at any time for public bathing or other water access. Although the creek may look pristine, it is classified as impaired; the water carries with it the pollution picked up from its 21-square mile urban watershed. It has chronically high levels of fecal bacteria from a number of sources.
