Pick Up a New Sport with Pickleball

10/3/2017

The City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department (PRCA) is pleased to announce a new partnership with Gainesville Pickleball. Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports across the country, and PRCA is happy to offer a free, drop-in league at the Martin Luther King Jr. Multipurpose Center.

Pickleball combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis. Gainesville Pickleball is reaching out to people who want to learn and play: beginners, intermediate players, couples, seniors and anyone who wants to join in the fun! Pickleball is a low-impact sport that can be played by people of all ages. An introduction to the game, equipment recommendations and rules are available at www.usapa.org, the website for United States of America Pickleball Association.

The drop-in league takes place Tuesday mornings at 8:30 a.m. Please come with tennis shoes. Balls, paddles, nets and instruction are provided. The Martin Luther King Jr. Multipurpose Center is located at 1028 NE 14th Street.
