Great Entertainment Continues in July at Depot Park

The City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department is pleased to announce the July lineup of Events on the Promenade at Depot Park, which is located at 200 SE Depot Ave., in Gainesville.

Friday evening features a family-friendly DJ from 7:30-9 p.m. Saturday evenings feature live music from 7-9 p.m. - new this month are food truck on Saturday nights! Sundays feature hands-on arts activities from 2-4 p.m. in the kid’s area. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, shade and blankets to sit and relax.

Saturday, July 1
7-9 p.m.

Live On Stage at Depot Park presents Latino’s Sound Machine featuring Elio Piedra. Get ready to salsa at sunset, and bring your blankets and chairs if case you want to take a rest. Tropical Sno and the Fly’n Hawaiian food trucks will be there to serve their full menus.

Sunday, July 2
2-4 p.m.

Kid’s Arts and Crafts presents Joy Miller. Red, white and blue are the colors of the day as kids make patriotic flags and Uncle Sam hats. All materials are provided.

Friday, July 7
7:30-9 p.m.

Family-friendly dance party with DJ South Beats playing the hits you want to hear and dance to. Moms, dads, kids and friends dance all night to the beats.

Saturday, July 8
7-9 p.m.

Live On Stage at Depot Park presents the Sondra Hunt Band playing contemporary and classic country and pop music. Bring your chairs and blankets to join friends on the hill. A food truck will be on site.

Sunday, July 9
2-4 p.m.

Kid’s Arts and Crafts presents Music and Arts Program for Youth, an arts foundation with workshops that emphasize the fun of art and community.A hands-on art activity for kids and adults to create. All materials are provided.

Friday, July 14
7:30-9 p.m.

Depot dance party as DJ Dad brings back the 80s and beyond, including all the bouncy songs you can’t sit still to. Make new friends as we meet up, play games and dance along.

Saturday, July 15
7-9 p.m.

Live On Stage at Depot Park presents Dr/veaway. This group combines influences of alternative rock and indie pop, sprinkled with electronic essence to create an energetic experience sure to bring the hype to any audience.

Sunday, July 16
2-4 p.m.

Brain, Cognition, and Development Lab provides fun activities for kids and their parents all about grey matter, otherwise known as the brain. All materials are provided.

Friday, July 21
7:30-9 p.m.

Depot dance party with the return of DJ-ELO! Regular guests know he plays a mix of everyone’s favorite songs; kids and adults all dance along. It’s a fun sunset gathering and a dancer’s paradise.

Saturday, July 22
7-9 p.m.

Live On Stage at Depot Park presents Gypsy Star. Weaving a colorful melodic tapestry of enchanting, uplifting tunes brought to life with vocal harmonies and acoustic instrumentation such as classical guitar, violin, bass, drums and array of hand percussion. The Fly’n Hawaiian food truck will be there to serve their full menu.

Sunday, July 23
2-4 p.m.

Kid’s Arts and Crafts presents Music and Arts Program for Youth. For many children, learning to read is challenging and not a lot of fun. Singing karaoke is a great way to practice reading without even knowing it!Children build self-confidence and an appreciation for music by participating in karaokein this safe environment. All materials are provided.

Friday, July 28
7:30-9 p.m.

Depot dance party with DJ Dad gets everybody moving in time to the beat. Bring your friends and make new ones too. There’s something for everyone to do and dance to. Bubbles, music and sunsets make great memories.

Saturday, July 29
7-9 p.m.

Live On Stage at Depot Park presents Uncle Mosie who plays folk, Americana and songs you can dance to. Fronted by Dana’s lovely voice, this band is a local favorite.

Sunday, July 30
2-4 p.m.

Kid’s Arts and Crafts brings the Repurpose Project’s Trash Princess back to create repurposed throwaways turned into art with an educational environmental story included. All materials are provided.
