2015 State of the City Address Delivered Jan. 28


The City of Gainesville is pleased to announce the 2015 State of the City Address will be delivered Wednesday, Jan. 28 at noon in the Hall of Heroes at the Gainesville Police Department, which is located at 545 NW Eighth Ave. in Gainesville. The Honorable Mayor Ed Braddy and city commissioners, accompanied by City Manager Russ Blackburn and interim General Manager for Utilities Kathy Viehe, will deliver the annual State of the City Address, which will feature highlights from 2014 and lay out the vision for the continued success of Gainesville.

Members of the news media are asked to prominently display media credentials. Doors will open to media representatives for setup at 11 a.m. City staff will direct media representatives to setup locations. A multiple input communications box will be available to provide a clean audio signal to news media representatives on a first come, first serve basis. All media representatives are asked to complete setup of cameras and audio recorders not later than 11:40 a.m.

A light lunch will follow the event. The State of the City Address is open to members of the media and to the general public. The address will be replayed on Community12, which can be viewed on Cox Cable Channel 12 or online at the week following the event.

The 2014 Citizen's Report, a report that informs residents about the City of Gainesville, its operations, services, programs and financial condition, will be released at the State of the City Address. Additionally, the grand prize winner of the Sixth Annual Photography Contest will be unveiled at the address.
