Youth Coed Basketball = Sportsmanship + Character
The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department is gearing up for another season of great games for Youth Coed Basketball. Through fitness, fair play and sportsmanship, this program teaches youth, age 5-14, how character counts on and off the court. There are no try outs, and each participant gets to play. Registration is open now through Dec. 15.
Weekly practice starts Monday, Dec. 1 at the Martin Luther King Jr. Multipurpose Center, which is located at 1028 NE 14th St., from 6-8 p.m. Games begin in January, and run through March 2015, taking place in Alachua County and the surrounding areas on Saturdays. Time of play varies by age group.
New this year is a Free Throw Contest held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Multipurpose Center where participants can show of their skills for great prizes! The contest is Saturday, Dec. 6 from 5-7 p.m. (ages 5-8 throw from 5-6 p.m. and ages 9-14 throw from 6-7 p.m.).
