Downtown Festival & Art Show Poster Captures the Creative Spirit of Sandra Matasick

The 39th Annual Downtown Festival & Art Show is proud to present this year’s poster image, featuring the work of Sandra Matasick. Matasick’s career began by taking one simple class in jewelry making where she was immediately hooked. Her passion for jewelry making is further exemplified by the time she crawled into the window of her school’s locked studio to work on her craft all through the night. Matasick went on to earn her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Metalsmithing from the University of Kansas and her Master of Fine Arts in Metalsmithing from the State University of New York, New Paltz. After obtaining her degrees, she worked in jewelry stores creating custom pieces for clients before starting her own business.

Now with 35 years of experience under her belt, Matasick continues to expand her custom design work and push the boundaries of her comfort zone. She stays busy by dreaming up beautiful works of art and traveling across the country to attend various art shows. The basic framework of her pieces are inspired by her interest in modern design and historical jewelry and architecture. She draws further inspiration from nature and sea life.

Matasick’s work will be available at the 39th Annual Downtown Festival & Art Show virtual celebration, held Saturday, Nov. 7 and Sunday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. at The  festival will feature a masterful blend of art along with music and dance performances, emerging young artists and community service groups. A collection of talented artists will display their original oils and acrylics, vibrant watercolors, breathtaking sculptures, elegant jewelry, decorative ceramics and stunning photography.
