Water has become one of the most talked about issues in the nation today. The National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation was created to reward residents for positive conservation behavior, provide immediate feedback with real time city by city results that can be measured against their neighboring cities, set goals to promote positive changes in consumer behavior and put a spotlight on public role models to encourage behavioral change.

The campaign is designed to help consumers save money, save infrastructure and operating costs for cities, promote drought resiliency and protect watersheds and ecosystems.  Participants also learn about resources in their area to take their commitment of conservation even further, from regional water and energy resource issues, to cost-saving tips at home.

Local partners in the challenge include the City of Gainesville, Alachua County, Gainesville Regional Utilities, Keep Alachua County Beautiful, the Sierra Club, the Suwannee River Water Management District, the American Water Works Association (Florida Section), Sustainable UF and First Magnitude Brewing Company. Join us by pledging to save water.
