State of the City Address to be Held Wed., Jan. 30
The City of Gainesville is holding its 2019 State of the City Address Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 12:30 p.m. at the Cade Museum for Creativity and Invention, which is located at 811 S. Main St. in Gainesville. This year’s address will be delivered by interim City Manager Deborah Bowie, General Manager for Utilities Ed Bielarski and the Honorable Mayor Lauren Poe. It features highlights from 2018, and presents the continued vision for Gainesville.
The 2019 State of the City Address will incorporate musical acts to showcase the history and diversity of Gainesville during its first 150 years of incorporation. The acts include folk music by Chuck Levy, Brent and Inslee Baldwin (www.banjourneys.com); Jason and Sarah Hedges of Heavy Petty, a favorite local band (www.facebook.com/HeavyPettyRocks) and the Expressions Learning Arts Academy’s Dragon Chorus (https://www.facebook.com/ExpressionsLearningArtsAcademy/).
The event is open to members of the media and to the general public. Doors open at 12 p.m., with refreshments and self-guided tours of the Cade Museum after the event. We encourage the public to carpool and consider road construction in the area. Parking is available at the Cade Museum and on adjacent streets.
The address will be replayed on Community12, which can be viewed on Cox Cable Channel 12 or online at www.cityofgainesville.org the week following the event. You may also stream the address on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/GainesvilleFL/.
