$10,000 Donation for Northeast 31st Avenue Park Improvements
The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department is pleased to announce that the Gainesville Arts & Parks Foundation received a $10,000 donation for the Northeast 31st Avenue Park improvements from the GFWC Gainesville Woman’s Club. The improvement project for the park recently received approval for Wild Spaces and Public Places funding as well.
“The GFWC Gainesville Woman’s Club announces a $10,000 donation for Northeast 31st Avenue Park improvements, the organization’s 2018 signature project,” said Betsy Albury, president of Gainesville Woman’s Club. “The park is in need of substantial upgrades, and we are honored to be able to contribute to this cause. We are dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. Each year the Woman’s Club selects a community project and works to raise funds through our signature project. We look forward to seeing the revitalization of this park for our community.”
Planning for future park’s improvements has already started. The City of Gainesville is holding an open house to display future park improvement concept plans at the Northeast 31st Avenue Park Saturday, June 16 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. The designs were developed as a result of community focus groups and a survey conducted in May 2018. The public is invited to join the discussion of these concept plans and provide feedback. Food will be provided.
