Feb. 19 UPDATE: The third annual Gainesville Arts and Parks Foundation Charity Golf Scramble has been rescheduled to Friday, Nov. 9 due to unforeseen circumstances.
Calling all golfers! The Gainesville Arts & Parks Foundation (GAP) is looking for people who love the links and want to help local youth succeed. GAP is holding its third annual Charity Golf Scramble Friday, March 9, with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start at Ironwood Golf Course (2100 NE 39th Ave.). Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy the best Audubon International certified golf course in north central Florida. Last year, more than $13,000 was raised, which provided summer camp scholarships provided by the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department for 250 Gainesville youth! During camp, campers experience action packed adventures, field trips and new learning experiences all while focusing on the Six Pillars of Character program. Campers also learn computer use, financial management, job skills and explore science through partnerships with local organizations including the Alachua Sheriff’s Office, Gainesville Police Department, University of Florida, local banks, schools and businesses.
Player registration is $75 for an individual and $275 for a foursome. Registration fees include greens fee, cart fee, range balls, golfer gift, lunch from Mi Apa Latin Café and dinner from Adam’s Rib Co. following the tournament. There are also several opportunities for great prizes donated by our many generous sponsors. Best of all, players are helping local youth by providing opportunities for fun and success. Registration closes March 2.
The GAP Foundation is a 501(c)(3) that serves as an ally in fundraising and advocacy for the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department.
