2017 State of the City Address Delivered Feb. 14


The City of Gainesville is pleased to announce the 2017 State of the City Address will be delivered Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 3 p.m. in the Hall of Heroes at the Gainesville Police Department, which is located at 545 NW Eighth Ave. in Gainesville. The Honorable Mayor Lauren Poe will deliver the annual State of the City Address, which will feature highlights from 2016 and lay out the vision for the continued success of Gainesville as it transforms into a new American city. Additional remarks by City Manager Anthony Lyons, General Manager for Utilities Ed Bielarski, UF President Dr. W. Kent Fuchs and UF Senior Vice President Dr. Charlie Lane will accompany the address.

Members of the news media are asked to prominently display media credentials. Doors will open to media representatives for setup at 2:30 p.m. City staff will direct media representatives to setup locations. A multiple input communications box will be available to provide a clean audio signal to news media representatives on a first come, first serve basis. All media representatives are asked to complete setup of cameras and audio recorders not later than 2:45 p.m.

Refreshments will follow the event. The State of the City Address is open to members of the media and to the general public. The address will be replayed on Community12TV, which can be viewed on Cox Cable Channel 12 or online at the week following the event.

The grand prize winner of the Eighth Annual Photography Contest will also be unveiled by Mayor Lauren Poe at the address.
