The City Commission will hold a special meeting Thursday, May 16 at noon to officially swear-in Mayor Lauren Poe and Commissioner Adrian Hayes-Santos (district 4). Mayor Poe and Commissioner Hayes-Santos were both elected in March to serve a second term. In addition, the City Commission will elect a Mayor-Commissioner Pro Tem for the 2019-2020 term. Commissioner Hayes-Santos currently serves as Mayor-Commissioner Pro Tem.

The Gainesville City Commission is seeking applications for the newly-established Charter Review Commission. All registered voters within the City of Gainesville are eligible to apply. To apply, please click here.

City of Gainesville elections will be held Tuesday, March 19. Registered voters in district four will elect a commissioner to represent its district, and registered voters citywide will elect the mayor and vote on a charter referendum. Early voting is available Saturday, March 9-Saturday, March 16 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., except Tuesday and Thursday, which will be 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Early voting has five designated sites: the Supervisor of Elections Office (515 N. Main St.), the Reitz Union (655 Reitz Union Dr., room G-50), the Senior Recreation Center (5701 NW 34th St.), the MLK Center (1028 NE 14th St.) and the Millhopper Branch Library (3145 NW 43rd St.). City of Gainesville voters will vote on an amendment to the city’s charter during the 2019 City of Gainesville Regular Election.

The City Commission will hold a special meeting Thursday, May 17 at noon to officially swear-in Commissioner-elect Gail Johnson (at-large 1) and Commissioner-elect Gigi Simmons(district 1). Commissioner-elect Johnson and Commissioner-elect Simmons were elected in March and April respectively. Each will each serve a three-year term in office. In addition, the City Commission will elect a Mayor-Commissioner Pro Tem for the 2018-2019 term. Commissioner Harvey Budd currently serves as Mayor-Commissioner Pro Tem.
