Advisory Board and Committee Openings

The Gainesville City Commission is pleased to receive applications for consideration to the following boards/committees.

City Residency Required

Applications must be received in the Office of the Clerk of the Commission by 5 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2019 (11:59 p.m. if applying online).

  • Historic Preservation Board (1 partial term ending June 1, 2020) 
  • Regional Transit System (2 full terms ending Sept. 30, 2022)
  • Student Community Relations Advisory Board (2 voting student members terms ending Sept. 30, 2020)
  • Wild Spaces, Public Places Oversight Committee (1 full term ending Sept. 30, 2023, 1 non-voting alternate term ending Sept. 30, 2023)

Community Reinvestment Area Advisory Board

Applications are now being accepted for the newly forming Gainesville Community Reinvestment Area (GCRA) Citizen Advisory Board. The board will serve in an advisory capacity to the City Commission on matters of community redevelopment with the GCRA. Interested parties should live or work in the community reinvestment area. Board members will be appointed at the Oct. 3 City Commission meeting; applicants are encouraged to attend. The application is available online; the deadline to apply is Monday, Sept. 16 at 5 p.m. 

The first meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 5:30 p.m. at GTEC, located at 2153 SE Hawthorne Rd.

  • 15 full, two-year terms
