City Manager Investigation

The Equal Opportunity Director received an informal complaint filed by the NAACP Alachua County Branch, through its President Evelyn Foxx on June 6, 2017. A subsequent formal complaint of discrimination was sent via email to the Mayor, City Commission and the Equal Opportunity Director on June 7, 2017. The Equal Opportunity Director immediately engaged the City Auditor based on Equal Opportunity Policy (EO-8) requiring both the Office of Equal Opportunity Director (OEO) and City Auditor to jointly investigate personal and direct allegations against a Charter Officer. After the investigation began, Ms. Cheryl McBride, former Human Resources Director and current Chief People Officer at Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU), filed (July 6, 2017) a separate complaint of discrimination with the Office of Equal Opportunity alleging retaliation by the City Manager.
